Football Recap: Charel Tshibangu Leads Fossil Ridge's Defense on Thursday + How To Watch

Newman Smith came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Fossil Ridge, but Darnell Williams wouldn't allow it. The Panthers came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 21-9 on Thursday for which the team can thank Williams, who rushed for 122 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.

Fossil Ridge's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB ten times. Charel Tshibangu led the group effort, picking up four of those sacks all by himself.

The victory got Fossil Ridge back to even at 1-1. As for Newman Smith, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fossil Ridge will square off against Ryan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Newman Smith, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sunset at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th.
