Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Santa Fe rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top against Port Neches-Groves by a score of 9-5. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 11-1 victory on Saturday.

Santa Fe got a great performance from Jarrett Williams as he struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayce Richardson, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronald Rouse, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Santa Fe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Santa Fe and bumps their season record up to 17-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Port Neches-Groves, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-8 record this season.

Santa Fe will face off against Kingwood Park on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. Port Neches-Groves does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
