Basketball Recap: Tonopah Comes Up Short

Tonopah suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2024 on Friday. They lost 48-25 to the Indian Springs Thunderbirds. The Muckers have struggled against the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Tonopah still got an impressive performance from Trinity Blackburn, who posted ten points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Blackburn a new career-high in assists (four).

Even though they lost, Tonopah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Oriyah Clay continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Indian Springs, almost dropping a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Clay has scored at least a third of Indian Springs' points. Another player making a difference was Karmyn Guerino, who earned four points and seven steals.

Tonopah's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Indian Springs, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Indian Springs beat Tonopah by a score of 28-27 on Monday.
