Softball Game Preview: Carlisle Indians vs. Ore City Rebels

Carlisle is 0-5 against Ore City since March of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Carlisle Indians will square off against the Ore City Rebels at 5:30 p.m. Carlisle has given up an average of 16.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Carlisle is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Ore City, falling 22-0.

For Ore City's part, Jordan Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Johnson has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Kylieann Humphrey was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Humphrey is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Mazye Hawkins was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-2.

Ore City hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Ore City's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10-1. As for Carlisle, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.
