Football Recap: Inlet Grove Takes a Loss

The Inlet Grove Hurricanes were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 12-8 to the Legacy Lions. The Hurricanes gained 268 more yards on the day, but it was the Lions that made the best use of them.

Despite the loss, Inlet Grove still got an impressive performance from Ciniger Smith, who picked up 129 receiving yards, and also rushed for 90 yards. The Hurricanes are 3-1 when Smith posts 80 or more receiving yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Demetry Hudson was another key player, throwing for 304 yards while picking up 13.8 yards per attempt.

Leading Legacy to victory were Enzo Hairabedian and Justin Dominguez. Hairabedian rushed for 113 yards, while Dominguez rushed for 84 yards. The dominant performance also gave Dominguez a new career-high in passing yards (42).

Inlet Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Legacy, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Inlet Grove will head out to square off against Orlando Christian Prep at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Legacy, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Pahokee at 6:00 p.m. The Blue Devils' defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them.
