Softball Recap: Farragut Has No Trouble Against Maryville

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Farragut and Maryville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Admirals blew past the Red Rebels 7-1 on Tuesday. The Admirals haven't had any issues with the Red Rebels recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Hallie Grace Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alexa Shrader and Rylee Raby did most of the damage at the plate: Shrader scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Raby went 2-for-3 with one home run. What's more, Shrader posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last ten matchups. Dajah Means was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Farragut hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maryville struck out eight times.

Farragut's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.3 runs. As for Maryville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Farragut will venture away from home to face off against Alcoa at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Admirals 2.7, the Tornadoes 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Maryville, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Knoxville Central at 6:00 p.m.
