Basketball Game Preview: Mitchell County Eagles vs. Worth County Rams

The Mitchell County Eagles will take on the Worth County Rams in a tournament on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, Mitchell County came up short against Seminole County and fell 46-36. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Mitchell County's loss came about despite a quality game from Sariyah Chester, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Chester has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Layla Mango was another key player, putting up three points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Mitchell County was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seminole County only racked up five assists.

Meanwhile, Worth County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-59 heartbreaker at the hands of Cook.

Worth County's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mitchell County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Mitchell County might still be hurting after the 77-51 loss they got from Worth County in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Can Mitchell County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
