Softball Recap: McHenry Warriors vs. Huntley Red Raiders

McHenry had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 9-13 to make it four. They lost 6-0 to the Huntley Red Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 on April 9th.

As for Huntley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Huntley's part, not much got past Layla Olson, who gave up just five hits to keep McHenry off the board. Olson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lyla Ginczycki was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Bonner, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. McHenry will square off against rival Cary-Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Huntley is set to face off against their familiar foe Jacobs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
