Volleyball Preview: Richland County Tigers vs. Pinckneyville Panthers
A feisty cat fight will be fought when Tigers dukes it out withthe Pinckneyville Panthers at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Richland County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Richland County was able to grind out a solid victory over Farina South Central, taking the game 2-0.
Richland County never let Farina South Central on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-18.
Richland County can attribute much of their success to Nora Stevens, who had 20 digs.
Meanwhile, Pinckneyville beat Carbondale 2-0 on Wednesday.
Pinckneyville easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-15.
Richland County's win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-25. As for Pinckneyville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.
Richland County came up short against Pinckneyville in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 2-0. Can Richland County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
