Baseball Game Preview: Lancaster Red Devils vs. Rappahannock Raiders

Lancaster is 1-9 against Rappahannock since April of 2024 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Red Devils will challenge the Raiders. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lancaster 3, Rappahannock 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lancaster is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Middlesex as they made off with an 8-2 victory. Considering the Red Devils have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Braden George spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Lancaster got a big performance out of Trevor Pittman, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that Pittman has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Major, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Rappahannock had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted against the Indians since May 16, 2024.

Rappahannock's win bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Lancaster, their victory bumped their record up to 19-5.

Lancaster might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Rappahannock in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
