Baseball Recap: Willard Takes a Loss

Willard came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Margaretta Polar Bears by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. If the Crimson Flashes were looking for revenge after losing 4-1 to the Polar Bears when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Elijah Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jandyel Salazar was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Willard is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. As for Margaretta, they moved to 2-6 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willard will face off against Clyde at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Margaretta, they will take on Woodmore at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
