Basketball Recap: Largo Triumphs

Largo posted their closest win since January 17th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Evangelical Christian Sentinels 55-53.

Avery Shaw had an outrageously good game as he posted 21 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Denzel Johnson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Despite the loss, Evangelical Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Quez Outten went 6 of 12 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for Outten. The team also got some help courtesy of Melvin Mckay, who had ten points and three steals.

Largo's record now sits at 2-7. As for Evangelical Christian, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Largo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-46 loss against St. Petersburg on the 10th. As for Evangelical Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-34 win against Bonita Springs on the 10th.
