Basketball Recap: Springville Red Devils vs. Cyprus Pirates
Springville won the last time they faced Cyprus and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Springville Red Devils simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cyprus Pirates 55-23. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Pirates are ranked 99th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Springville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brynn Johnson out in front who went 7 of 14 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Johnson has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Hattie Templeman, who posted eight points.
Springville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cyprus only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Despite the loss, Cyprus still got an impressive performance from Calee Sharp, who put up ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabby Morfin, who had six points and five rebounds.
The victory made it two in a row for Springville and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Cyprus, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Springville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-44 defeat against Snow Canyon on the 5th. As for Cyprus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-10 loss against Bountiful on the 6th.
