Preview: Burton Panthers vs. Taylor Ducks
Burton has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Taylor Ducks at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Burton scored the most points they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They took down Brazos Christian 68-53.
Taylor has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 68-45 margin over La Grange. Winning may never get old, but Taylor sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Taylor's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kionayh Rivers, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Asia Zachary, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Burton pushed their record up to 8-4-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Taylor, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
