Recap: Ursuline Fighting Irish vs. New Philadelphia Quakers

The Ursuline Fighting Irish put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past New Philadelphia, posting a 42-7 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Ursuline, who have now won six contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Ursuline had a senior duo take command as Jack Ericson threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes and Christian Lynch rushed for 41 yards and three touchdowns. Lynch is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.

The team's defense also helped out by holding New Philadelphia to a paltry 181 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Ursuline's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Ty'Req Donlow and his three sacks.

Ursuline's victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 10-1 Steubenville and 9-3 Tallmadge (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.1% over those games). As for New Philadelphia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Ursuline will look to defend their home field on Friday against Canfield at 7:00 p.m. Canfield is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games. New Philadelphia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
