Basketball Game Preview: Resurrection Christian Cougars vs. Fort Lupton Bluedevils

Two dominant guards in Olivia Klein and Marely Gomez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the Resurrection Christian Cougars and the Fort Lupton Bluedevils will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Resurrection Christian has six straight wins, Fort Lupton has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Resurrection Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Eagle Ridge Academy 68-23 two weeks ago. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.

Klein continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Callie Gillespie, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Fort Lupton lost to Steamboat Springs at home by a 41-23 margin two weeks ago.

Resurrection Christian will have to contain Daniella Aviles as she made an impact in Fort Lupton's last game. She earned eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Resurrection Christian's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Fort Lupton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Resurrection Christian against Fort Lupton in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, as the squad secured a 53-19 victory. In that contest, Resurrection Christian amassed a halftime lead of 37-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
