Softball Recap: Marquez's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to 11

Marquez entered their tilt with Maywood CES on Wednesday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over the Wolfpack. The result was nothing new for the Gladiators, who have now won 17 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kamilah Amezcua made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Delilah Sanchez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Daynah Martinez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Marquez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .792. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in ten consecutive contests.

Marquez's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Maywood CES, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Maywood CES wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-14 loss against Alliance Bloomfield on the 8th. Hopefully Marquez paid attention to the Wolfpack's matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Wolfpack at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
