Basketball Recap: Newman Comes Up Short

Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Phillips Loggers. The Fighting Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the Loggers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Phillips, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Newman will be playing in front of their home fans against Crandon at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Phillips, they are taking a road trip to square off against Rib Lake at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
