Volleyball Game Preview: Monte Vista Monarchs vs. Chula Vista Spartans

After both having extra time off, the Monte Vista Monarchs and the Chula Vista Spartans will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Monte Vista is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering El Capitan just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Vaqueros by a score of 3-2.

Monte Vista took El Capitan into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 20-25, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Chula Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Brawley two weeks ago, taking the game 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Chula Vista's victory bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Monte Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

Monte Vista beat Chula Vista 2-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Monarchs repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
