Baseball Game Preview: North Tahoe Lakers vs. Yerington Lions

North Tahoe is 1-9 against Yerington since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The North Tahoe Lakers will face off against the Yerington Lions at 10:00 a.m. North Tahoe will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

North Tahoe proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Yerington 9-8. While the Lakers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Yerington's part, Brent Brinkley was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brinkley was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Alexis Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

North Tahoe pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Yerington, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-1.
