Flag Football Preview: California Grizzlies vs. Carlmont Scots
The California Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Carlmont Scots at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. California's defense has only allowed eight points per game this season, so Carlmont's offense will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, California didn't have too much trouble with Dublin as they won 26-12. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Grizzlies' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Gaels are ranked 161st).
California can attribute much of their success to Caeli AuYeung, who threw for 190 yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.
California didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Olivia Horton and Amy Honda. Horton got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Carlmont waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. 12 seems to be a good number for the Scots as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
California's record now sits at 13-2. As for Carlmont, their record is now 10-2.
California came up short against Carlmont in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 19-14. Can the Grizzlies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
