Preview: Coal City Coalers vs. Streator Bulldogs
Coal City has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Streator Bulldogs at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Coal City is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Streator in Illinois (Coal City is ranked 120th, while Streator is ranked 673rd).
On Thursday, Coal City ended up a good deal behind Peotone and lost 53-36.
Meanwhile, Streator's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell to Reed-Custer 48-42. Streator has struggled against Reed-Custer recently, as their contest on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Coal City's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3. As for Streator, they bumped their record down to 1-22 with that loss, which was their 22nd straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Coal City against Streator in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 47-11 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coal City since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
