The Aurora Central Trojans will be playing at home against the Regis Groff Fusion at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Regis Groff took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Aurora Central, who comes in off a win.
Aurora Central came into Tuesday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 79-68 victory over Thornton on Tuesday. The win was just what Aurora Central needed coming off of a 72-31 loss in their prior contest.
Aurora Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charles Laurendine II led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 19 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. Laurendine II hasn't dropped below 17 points for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Camron Crisp, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Regis Groff's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 83-37 defeat at the hands of Vista PEAK Prep. Regis Groff was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-21.
Despite their loss, Regis Groff saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Miguel Morales, who scored four points, was perhaps the best of all.
Aurora Central now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Regis Groff, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Aurora Central have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Regis Groff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Aurora Central against Regis Groff in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 70-35 victory. With Aurora Central ahead 36-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
