Basketball Recap: May River Sharks vs. James Island Trojans
The May River Sharks lost against the James Island Trojans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The matchup between May River and the Trojans wasn't particularly close, with the Sharks falling 55-41. It was the first time this season that May River let down their fans at home.
Gage Duncan and KevinUp Smith certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Duncan scored 18 points along with three steals, while Smith scored seven points along with four steals.
May River's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-6. As for James Island, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. May River will face off against the Seahawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hilton Head Island's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for James Island, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bengals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lucy Beckham is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
