Baseball Recap: Windham Comes Up Short

Windham extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against the Marshwood Hawks, falling 10-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 7-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in June of 2024.

As for Marshwood, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Marshwood's part, Tyler Hussey and Ronan Garrett were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hussey struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garrett pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Hussey has posted since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Hussey went 1-for-2 with two runs, while Garrett went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Tiernan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Sam Gennaro was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Windham has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Scarborough on the 15th. As for Marshwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Falmouth on the 15th.
