Baseball Recap: Hockinson Takes a Loss

Hockinson dropped their record down to 5-13 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Washougal Panthers by a score of 1-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Hawks haven't been shut out since back in March.

Hockinson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Fehrer, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Fehrer has become a key player for the Hawks: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-12 otherwise.

As for Washougal, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-11. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Washougal's side, the result came thanks to Tyler Thompson's shutout, as he gave up just seven hits. Thompson has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

While Hockinson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
