Basketball Recap: Elkin Comes Up Short

Elkin lost against Mount Airy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Elkin Buckin' Elks fell 36-25 to the Mount Airy Granite Bears.

It was another big night for Da'Nya Mills, who posted nine points and six rebounds for Mount Airy. Carrie Marion was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Elkin has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Mount Airy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkin will venture away from home to square off against South Stokes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mount Airy, they will head out to face off against Alleghany at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Airy is facing Alleghany at the right time seeing as Alleghany is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
