Softball Recap: Corbin Takes a Loss

Corbin dropped their record down to 12-14 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the North Laurel Jaguars by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-1 defeat on May 6th.

Danni Foley put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, Apple Terrell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for North Laurel, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 28-3-1 record this season. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

On North Laurel's side, Emma Carl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Bella Finley and Ellie Adams did most of the damage at the plate: Finley went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Adams went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Saige McClure, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Corbin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Laurel, they will challenge Pineville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
