The Bishop McDevitt Crusaders will head out on the road to square off against the Hershey Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bishop McDevitt is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Oley Valley 12-2 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Crusaders considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Tyler Shroy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Bishop McDevitt got a massive performance out of Ethan Mosteller, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Mosteller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel McNaughton, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Bishop McDevitt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Hershey put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Carlisle. The Trojans came out on top against the Thundering Herd by a score of 5-0. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Thundering Herd: they've now won seven in a row.
Not much got past Clark Green, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Carlisle off the board.
At the plate, Hershey's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sean Callahan, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Hershey's record is now 11-6. As for Bishop McDevitt, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bishop McDevitt has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hershey struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bishop McDevitt came up short against Hershey when the teams last played back in April, falling 5-0. Can the Crusaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
