Football Recap: Moffat County Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Moffat County's offense. They were dealt a 55-0 loss at the hands of the Steamboat Springs Sailors on Friday. The Bulldogs lost against the Sailors in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 40-6 score last time.

Jax Nelson threw for 72 yards on five of eight attempts. Logan Reidhead was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.

Steamboat Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tanner Cobb led the charge by throwing for 135 yards and three TDs on only nine passes, while also rushing for 52 yards and one score. What's more, Cobb racked up 149.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Eli Bever was another key back, rushing for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Moffat County and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Steamboat Springs, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moffat County will face off against Berthoud at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Steamboat Springs, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Aspen at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
