Basketball Preview: Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers vs. Serra Catholic Eagles
Chartiers-Houston is 1-6 against the Eagles since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers will look to defend their home court against the Serra Catholic Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Chartiers-Houston sitting on six straight wins and the Eagles on five.
Chartiers-Houston scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Fort Cherry with points to spare, taking the game 86-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, even though Jeannette scored an imposing 65 points on Saturday, Serra Catholic still came out on top. Serra Catholic snuck past the Jayhawks with a 71-65 victory.
It was another big night for Owen Dumbroski, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Underwood, who scored 17 points.
Chartiers-Houston pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Serra Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Chartiers-Houston came up short against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 78-72. Thankfully for Chartiers-Houston, Joey Demoss (who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
