Volleyball Recap: Germantown Takes a Loss

Germantown was the 2-1 winner over Brandon when they last played one another back in August, but their luck changed this time around. The Mavericks fell 3-1 to the Bulldogs on Thursday. While the Mavericks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-16 in the first set.

Germantown started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-13.

Brandon found their leader in freshman Lynnon Rhodes, who had 34 digs and one assist. Rhodes has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Germantown's defeat dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Brandon, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 28-8.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Germantown will venture away from home to face off against DeSoto Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brandon, they will square off against Biloxi at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
