Williams extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 28 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-16. They lost 27-1 to the Quincy Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 31-0 on Friday.
As for Quincy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Quincy's part, Reilly Vaughn and Anthony Warndorf made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Vaughn pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Warndorf tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Quincy is 3-1 when Vaughn allows one or fewer hits, but 8-12 otherwise. At the plate, Vaughn went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and two doubles, while Warndorf got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave Vaughn a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Jace Moore looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Quincy's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 9-12 when he doesn't).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Lincoln Brown, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Quincy: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lane Flores, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
As of now, neither Williams nor Quincy have any future games scheduled.
