Softball Recap: Chattanooga Central Gets the Win

Chattanooga Central proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sale Creek Panthers, sneaking past 7-6. This was payback for the Pounders, who suffered a 7-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kaitlynn Cunningham was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Chattanooga Central let Kennedi Sabb and Emma Lakin run wild. Sabb scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Lakin went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Myra Kouris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Chattanooga Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sale Creek struck out ten times.

Chattanooga Central's victory bumped their record up to 15-7-1. As for Sale Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chattanooga Central will venture away from home to square off against Brainerd at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sale Creek, they will head out to challenge Ooltewah at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Owls' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
