Preview: Richfield Wildcats vs. Emery Spartans

Richfield is 8-2 against Emery since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Richfield Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Emery Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Emery took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Richfield, who comes in off a win.

Even though Richfield has not done well against Manti recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Richfield managed a 52-47 win over Manti.

Miles Barnett and Jorgen Southwick were among the main playmakers for Richfield as the former scored 13 points along with three steals and the latter scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Yardley, who scored 12 points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Emery pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 62-55 to Delta. Emery's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Wade Stilson, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Justice, who scored 18 points along with four steals.

Richfield pushed their record up to 11-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Emery, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Richfield didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Emery in their previous matchup on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 57-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
