Coventry faced Pilgrim in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Oakers came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Oakers.

Mary Mcgovern spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Leah Lapham was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2025.

Coventry's record now sits at 9-6-2. As for Pilgrim, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-8 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Coventry will venture away from home to take on East Providence at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pilgrim, they will head out to face off against Chariho at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
