Recap: Plum Mustangs vs. Hempfield Area Spartans
The Plum Mustangs can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 38-20 win over Hempfield Area. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Plum's six-point performance the match before.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Plum to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sean Franzi, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes. Another player making a difference was Darian Nelson, who picked up 148 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Hempfield Area lost, one person who can't be blamed is Keiran Lippmann. Despite the final result, he picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Plum's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Hempfield Area, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Plum will take on Indiana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Indiana comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Hempfield Area, they will head out on the road to face off against Norwin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Norwin is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
