Baseball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Columbia and Nampa, and Nampa kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-11 defeat last Tuesday.

Columbia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marcus DeLeon, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. DeLeon is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Columbia has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Nampa, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11.

Columbia has already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against Vallivue on the 30th. As for Nampa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 21-5 defeat against Bishop Kelly on the 28th.
