Volleyball Recap: Monroe Area Comes Up Short

Monroe Area lost against Oglethorpe County back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Purple Hurricanes took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-12.

Ashley Phiel paced Monroe Area's offense, picking up five kills. Phiel got some help from Alyssa Brown and her five assists. Phiel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Monroe Area's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Oglethorpe County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Coming up, Monroe Area will be taking part in a tournament against Loganville at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Oglethorpe County, they will head out on the road to challenge Dacula at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
