Basketball Game Preview: Magdalena Steers vs. Quemado Eagles

Magdalena and Quemado are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Magdalena Steers will square off against the Quemado Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Magdalena will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Magdalena will head into Tuesday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 44-point drubbing they dealt Hatch Valley on Tuesday. Magdalena blew past Hatch Valley, posting a 61-17 victory. The Steers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Quemado, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 46-29 win over Reserve on Saturday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Quemado pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Magdalena, their record is now 16-4.

Magdalena came up short against Quemado in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 36-32. Can Magdalena avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
