Softball Game Preview: St. James Sharks vs. Loris Lions

The St. James Sharks will square off against the Loris Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. James will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

Last Wednesday, St. James got the win against Socastee by a conclusive 9-2. The Sharks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Loris came up short against Ironton on Tuesday and fell 9-4.

Caitie Black made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Jaci Griffin, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

St. James pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Loris, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9-1.

St. James couldn't quite get it done against Loris in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
