Softball Recap: Taylor Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Taylor got themselves on the board against Reading on Wednesday, but Reading never followed suit. They blew past the Blue Devils 10-0. Considering the Yellowjackets have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ellie Stafford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Ady Franke was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Olivia Habig was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Taylor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive matches.

Taylor pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Reading, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor will head out to square off against Cooper at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Reading, they will head out on the road to take on Mariemont at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
