Football Recap: Ashbrook Piles Up the Points Against Berry + How To Watch

Ashbrook lost to Berry back in February of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Greenwave simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cardinals 54-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Greenwave's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Cardinals are ranked 290th).

Savion Lindsay had a dynamite game, rushing for 152 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Those 152 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj McClain, who threw for 46 yards and a pair of TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Ashbrook proved: they limited Berry to a paltry 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Quamell Scott for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ashbrook didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.2.

Ashbrook's defense also made the game a nightmare for Malachai Rowley., racking up seven sacks. Berry's QB won't forget Scott anytime soon given he sacked him four times. Ashbrook received some extra help from Caleb Gordon, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Ashbrook has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 15 points this season. As for Berry, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashbrook will face off against Northwest Cabarrus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Berry, they will take on Rocky River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
