Preview: Weed Cougars vs. Biggs Wolverines

Weed has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Biggs Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Two weeks ago, Weed got the win against Maxwell by a conclusive 50-30.

Dj Horton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 287 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 15.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 73 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Horton hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Marcus Horton, who gained 116 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Biggs walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Modoc 35-6 at home. Winning may never get old, but Biggs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Biggs can attribute much of their success to Zach Smith, who rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Hudson, who rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Biggs' defense and their nine sacks. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.

Weed has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Biggs, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Weed has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 354.9 total yards per game. However, it's not like Biggs struggles in that department as they've been even better at 358.2 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.

Weed took their victory against Biggs in their previous matchup back in October of 2021 by a conclusive 32-12. Does Weed have another victory up their sleeve, or will Biggs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
