Basketball Recap: Arizona Lutheran Academy Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-47 to the North Valley Christian Academy Lions.

Despite the loss, Arizona Lutheran Academy still got an impressive performance from Owen Beilke, who shot 5-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 55.3% of Arizona Lutheran Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Kayenda, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points.

Even though they lost, Arizona Lutheran Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Valley Christian Academy only pulled down three offensive boards.

Bobby Rodriguez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Valley Christian Academy, putting up 19 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Rodriguez has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Collins, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

Arizona Lutheran Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for North Valley Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.

Arizona Lutheran Academy will take on Leading Edge Academy - GEC at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Arizona Lutheran Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they will square off against Wickenburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
