Recap: Waelder Wildcats vs. Pettus Eagles
The Waelder Wildcats won the last time they faced the Pettus Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Waelder took down Pettus 69-54.
Pettus lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Desmond Montoya, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Ramon Reyna, who scored 17 points.
Waelder's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Pettus, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waelder will square off against Austwell-Tivoli at 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Austwell-Tivoli knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Waelder likes a good challenge. As for Pettus, they will head out on the road to square off against Runge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
