Baseball Recap: Questa Drops Highest Score of Season Against Centennial

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Questa). They were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over the Centennial Rams on Thursday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Carlos Ortega and Noah Rael were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Ortega pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rael struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ortega scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Rael scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Rael has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Aliyah Santistevan was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Adam Gordan was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Questa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only posted an OBP of .438.

Questa's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Centennial, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Questa beat the Rams by a score of 21-1 later that day.
