Basketball Recap: Portland Comes Up Short

Portland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 76-35 defeat at the hands of the Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils. The Highlanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-18.

Despite the loss, Portland had strong showings from Kelsey Desmarais, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals, and Morganne Pineda, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points.

Portland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Coginchaug Regional, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Portland will look to defend their home court on Friday against Old Saybrook at 7:00 p.m. As for Coginchaug Regional, they will head out to take on Westbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
