Basketball Recap: Socastee Takes a Loss

Socastee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 72-30 loss at the hands of the Bishop O'Connell Knights. The game marked the Braves' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Socastee lost, don't look at Bryson Sams. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Sams' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Joshua Brown was another key player, putting up four points and six boards.

Bishop O'Connell was led to victory by Wyatt Norton and Makel Minor. Norton almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards, while Minor went 5 of 8 on his way to 18 points. Norton is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Bivins, who posted four points along with seven assists and six steals.

Socastee's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Bishop O'Connell, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Socastee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-31 defeat against Archbishop Moeller on the 28th. As for Bishop O'Connell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 77-43 victory against Ridge View on the 28th.
