Basketball Recap: Arapahoe Falls Despite Big Games from Suttyn Shafer and Clara Hilker

Arapahoe has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Southern Valley Eagles on the road by a 50-31 margin on Thursday. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-41 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Arapahoe had strong showings from Clara Hilker, who posted nine points, and Suttyn Shafer, who had eight points and five steals. Shafer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played.

Arapahoe's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Southern Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arapahoe will head out to face off against Alma at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Alma will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Arapahoe surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southern Valley, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Southern Valley Eagles take on the Hitchcock County Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
